The Nokia 6760 Slide is now up for pre-order, and since its inception it’s come under quite a bit of scrutiny – largely on account of the way it looks. Nevertheless, and as the old saying goes, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, and we’re definitely a fan of the avant-garde stylings of the Nokia 6760 Slide.

The general premise of the Nokia 6760 Slide is value for money. You can get it SIM free for £199 (inc.VAT) from Nokia online. In short, if you purchase the Nokia 6760 Slide you’ll essentially be getting a smartphone, complete with full QWERTY keyboard and web browsing capabilities, for a price of a lower spec device.

With this in mind, we thought it best to compile a list of the five main reasons why we’re excited about the imminent arrival of the device.

Keyboard
While many users may feel more at home using a touch-screen interface these days, sometimes a QWERTY is much better. Fortunately, the full QWERTY on the Nokia 6760 Slide does not disappoint, and if we’re totally honest, it’s one of the best we’ve seen on a Nokia device. The keys are perfectly sized with adequate spacing between them, ensuring an extremely tactile and satisfying experience.

Full smartphone OS
As we said, the Nokia 6760 Slide is a smartphone – it’s just not priced like one. That said, what actually makes a smartphone? Well, it’s usually a good OS and good connectivity. Fortunately, the Nokia 6760 has both. While the Symbian S60 may not be the best OS in the world, it’ll certainly do you proud on this little device, ensuring speed and usability across the phones many functions, as well as allowing you to download third party apps and widgets.

Email & Web Browser
The Nokia 6760 Slide has full email capabilities catering for all the major providers, which makes it an indispensable business tool. In addition, the on board web browser will display full HTML pages, which is one of the devices strongest points. Lastly, the device has enough built-in multimedia capabilities to handle all your basic music and and video needs, meaning you’ll have every aspect of your media requirements covered.

Apps
The Nokia 6760 Slide doesn’t come with many built in options for messaging services such as AIM, IM, Messenger, Facebook, and Myspace, which is certainly a shame, as it’s something we’d definitely liked to have seen more of. Nevertheless, because the Nokia 6760 Slide has a Symbian S60 OS, and good connectivity, you’ll be able to download and install third party applications for practically all your messaging needs.
