The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is a smart phone that is small, light and handy to have. It has no frills, but has a lot of excellent features. Users of the original BlackBerry Curve and the original Bold will be happy to know that the new Bold 9700 brings back the fast 624 GHz core of the previous models and is now equipped with the latest version of the BlackBerry OS: v5.0.
We are still awaiting to see how much changes the new operating system will have but we are definitely hoping for more web integrated applications and maybe a new feature that will focus on messaging functions as well.
No Touch Screen
If you are looking for a touch screen mobile phone, look elsewhere. In the tradition of the Bold series, the 9700 has a full QWERTY keyboard and no touch screen. The reason is simple; the mobile phone does not need it. The BlackBerry OS itself does not need touch screen input to function properly. The BlackBerry touch pad gets all the movement you need in this phone and it does splendidly.
Users of the older BlackBerry models may remember the old track ball technology. The track ball was pretty good for its time and is better than the average analogue control sticks and pads on other devices. BlackBerry has updated the track ball with a touch sensitive pad that tracked finger movements more accurately. The touch pad was first introduced in the BlackBerry Curve and has become the new standard.
Keyboard Goodness
One of the best features of the BlackBerry series is the full QWERTY keyboard. This makes making messages faster. The focus on email, instant messaging and other text input related communications make BlackBerry phones irreplaceable for many people on the go. There are many other devices with physical keyboard but only a few are as a good as the BlackBerry.
The only thing missing from the old BlackBerry models was better integration with social networking websites and other web services. The Bold 9700 now has full Facebook, Flickr and MySpace support. Combined with the already present instant messaging support from Yahoo Messenger, AIM, Google Talk and ICQ as well email support from Gmail, AOL, Windows Live and Yahoo Maiil; the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is the best choice for anyone who wants to stay connected.
Bold Keeps You Online
3G HSDPA connectivity is definitely the way to go when it comes to the BlackBerry. When focusing more on messaging than browsing, you are better off connecting to an HSDPA network instead; it is also a lot faster and more stable than GPRS and wireless LAN access. Of course, for browsing and streaming purposes, you can opt to use the built in wireless LAN functions.
With the Bold 9700, you have access to a lot of messaging and chatting options which allow you to communicate with friends and family instantly. Overall, this is the mobile phone to have if you focus on connectivity over all other features. The Bold 9700 provides you with an excellent keyboard and user interface system complete with chat, email and messaging options for some of the most used web applications.
