Several local artists and businesses showed off their wares during the 2nd Annual Unique Boutique Oct. 23 at the Dockside Diner/Lakeside Lanes in Mundelein.
The event was hosted by Laura Vogt and Claudia Winter, owners of godottygo, a Mundelein business which makes recycled scarves and fingerless gloves out of recycled wool sweaters.
Seven artists and businesses from the Mundelein and Grayslake area participated in this year's boutique including godottygo, Claudia Winter Collection=A0(handmade jewelery), Daisy Bags (custom handbags), Sweets ALLways (homemade sweets),monsters (hand sewn dolls and t-shirts for children), Kitchen Stitchen (kitchen accessories), and TLC Prints (custom invitations and cards).
"It's just a way to raise awareness about local artists so that people are aware of their work and what they have available," said Vogt. "It was basically to promote local artists and have a little fun."
Vogt said this is the second year the boutique was held in Mundelein and she estimates about 100 people attended from the community attended the event.
"I think it was a success. We had a nice turnout and we plan to do it again next year," she said.
Vogt said their business also offered discounted prices on scarves for customers who brought in donations of canned goods or non-perishable items, which were donated to a local food pantry.
